Contrary to what many retailers tell shoppers， the oval-pod concept of the Ovalia lounge chair did not originate with Eero Aarnio. Though Aarnio did design the iconic Ball Chair， the credit for the Ovalia chair’s oval-pod egg concept goes to the Danish industrial designer and inventor， Henrik Thor-Larsen. Mr. Thor-Larsen first exhibited this sensational easy chair at the Scandinavian Furniture Fair in 1968， where it became an immediate international success.
